Our Scotch-Brite™ Coating Removal Disc Intro Pack provides an economical solution for getting two distinct but complimentary components in one easy package: a Hookit™ Disc Pad Holder and a 5” Coating Removal Disc (CRD).
Tackling Coatings and Corrosion: Scotch-Brite™ Coating Removal Disc
The Scotch-Brite™ Coating Removal Disc (CRD) contained inside our Scotch-Brite™ Coating Removal Disc Intro Pack features extra coarse silicon carbide mineral. Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint prep. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish. Together with the conformable, open-web material, silicon carbide removes coatings and corrosion from metal surfaces. Our CRD is in good company among rust removal discs and paint stripping discs, because it cuts swiftly and effectively but still maintains the integrity of the part.
We engineer the open-web material on the CRD by combining silicon carbide mineral and nonwoven nylon fibers with resin. The disc runs cool and resists loading, so the mineral keeps cutting sharply – yielding consistent results over the life of the product.
Making Tool Attachment Easy: Hookit™ Disc Pad
Included in our Scotch-Brite™ Coating Removal Disc Intro Pack is a Hookit™ Disc Pad Holder. The holder acts as a conduit – connecting the abrasive to the rotary tool. Small loops on the abrasive disc attach to small hooks on the holder pad. Our Hookit™ holder pad keeps the disc securely fastened to the tool while it runs. Moreover, the attachment acts like a shock absorber, providing an extra level of buoyancy and responsiveness, so the disc will not severely gouge the workpiece as it rotates.
