3M™ Paint Protection Film E9217 is a transparent medium-gloss adhesive film for protecting automotive surfaces from scratches, corrosion, abrasion and wear. The 3.7 mil die-cuttable polyester (PET) film resists weathering, stains and impact as well as shrinkage and elongation. A 3 mil acrylic PSA makes for efficient application. Film is excellent for use where paint contacts rubber substrates.
Tough, Transparent Paint Protection Film for Areas Where Paint and Rubber Meet
Developed specifically for protecting automotive surfaces from scratches, galvanic corrosion, abrasion and wear, 3M™ Paint Protection Film E9217 is an excellent alternative to molded protectors which can detract from finished vehicle appearance. This 6.7 mil film features a 3.7 mil polyethylene terephthalate (PET) base. The material has been rigorously tested for resistance to high temperatures, solvents and weathering for excellent film clarity and gloss retention, and shows excellent tensile strength and resistance to elongation or shrinkage. A 3 mil acrylic adhesive applied to the film is pressure-sensitive for fast, efficient application. It has been tested for peel adhesion at room temperatures and at temps through standard bake cycles, helping ensure a consistent bond. This medium-gloss film has also been tested for resistance to contact with EPDM rubber, making it excellent for use in non-visible areas such as for door stops, hose wraps and for areas where paint comes in contact with weatherstrips.
3M™ Paint Protection Film E9217 is flexible and die-cuttable to make it easier to apply even on complex automotive surfaces. It is available in die-cut or pre-masked parts for added OEM efficiency.
