Our 3M™ Polyethylene Tape 4828 is especially designed for weather sealing, bundling/wrapping, gel coat protection and chafe guarding applications for medium to long term use. It features a clear polyethylene backing coated with a pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive.
Provides Good Weatherization as a Draft Preventative
3M™ Polyethylene Tape 4828 can be used for home weatherization as a draft preventative by directly applying the tape to plastic storm windows, door jambs and window casings. Actual bond strength is dependent on the amount of adhesive to surface contact developed. Firm application pressure helps ensure better adhesive contact and improve bond strength.
Suggested Applications
To obtain optimum adhesion, make sure the bonding surfaces are clean, dry and well unified. Ideal tape application temperature range is 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C). Initial tape application to surfaces at temperatures below 50°F (10°C) is not recommended because the adhesive becomes too firm to adhere readily. However, once properly applied, low temperature holding is generally satisfactory.
