3M™ Interam™ Mat Mounts can be designed to handle temperatures up to 1,000°C, compensate for the extreme differences in the expansion of metal and ceramics, and protect the substrates from shocks and vibrations when the catalytic converter is in use.There are three general types of 3M™ Interam(r) Mats: Intumescent, Non-Intumescent and Hybrid. Intumescent mats expand with heat providing pressure to hold monoliths, while non-intumescent mats are non-heat expanding and maintain holding pressure through the resiliency of the fiber. Hybrid mats combine the best features of intumescent and nonintumescent mats to create mats to meet specific needs.
